Sprinter Justin Gatlin says Bolt is ‘beatable runner’
American track star Justin Gatlin joined the show to talk about his medal-winning performance in London.
“I feel good,” Gatlin said, “because when I look back at everything I’ve been through and be on the podium eight years later, it’s a dream come true.”
Gatlin broke down last night’s race. “There’s a lot of things I could have done better,” Gatlin said. “Bolt’s a beatable runner.”
Gatlin said his first two steps were too short, and that he could have been more patient and not jumped out so fast.
Gatlin said there’s a small window to top Bolt. You have to be close to perfect.
Gatlin said that he used to worry about how people perceived him after being suspended for allegedly cheating. But he’s gotten over it and is proud of what he’s achieved. “Innocent or guilty, I served four years,” Gatlin said.
Gatlin, who is 30 now, said that he wants to go to compete in the 2016 Games in Rio. Gatlin said other runners have done it into their 30s.
