Chris Mannix talks about U.S. hoops’ resilience, demise of U.S. boxing

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about Olympic basketball and boxing.

Mannix said that he was concerned that Spain was going to pull off the upset. “That was a lot closer than a lot of people at U.S. Basketball thought it was going to be,” Mannix said.

Mannix said you have to give U.S. credit for being resilient. When it gets tough, they pull it together and grind it out.

Mannix also weighed in on U.S. boxing. He said this is the worst program they’ve ever had. And Mannix blames the coaches. He said they picked the head coach a month before the games started, which he considers unacceptable.

“There are so many ways this program is fractured,” Mannix said. “It’s going to take four years for this to come together.”
