Brian Billick says replacement refs not bad enough to affect change yet
FOX NFL analyst Brian Billick joined the show talk about the big stories around the League.
Billick said he doesn’t think that enough has happened to put pressure on the NFL to get rid of the replacement officials. Billick said that we all forget how much criticism we usually level at the officials early in the season.
Billick said the coaches are having trouble figuring out what’s holding and what’s illegal contract. He said normally the NFL stresses consistency on calls like that, but now you don’t know what you’re going to get week to week.
Billick commented on New Orleans’ struggles. “Coaching does make a difference I guess,” Billick said. He also pointed out that the defense is not good right now. Billick said new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo doesn’t have the talent in the front seven that he used to in New York or even maybe in New Orleans.
Billick weighed in on Greg Schiano and Tom Coughlin’s argument. Billick said that Schiano didn’t break any rules. But what they did — trying to disrupt a kneel-down play — is unacceptable among coaches.
